Marble vs. Travertine?
Marble is a metamorphic rock formed when limestone is subjected to intense heat and pressure deep within the Earth's crust. This process causes the calcite in the stone to recrystallize, giving marble its smooth, dense structure and signature veining. Its elegant appearance, durability, and natural beauty make it a timeless choice for furniture. Marble’s luxurious feel and ability to be polished to a high gloss provide an upscale, sophisticated look to any space.

Travertine, on the other hand, is a sedimentary rock formed by mineral deposits in hot springs and limestone caves. It has a more textured, porous surface compared to marble, with unique natural pits and markings that give it a rustic, earthy appeal. Travertine's soft, neutral tones and its ability to age beautifully over time make it an excellent choice for furniture that brings warmth and character to a room.
Polished or Honed?
Polished (gloss) Finish: This finish gives the stone a high-gloss, reflective surface, highlighting its colours and natural veining. A polished finish enhances the stone’s elegance and luxurious appearance, making it ideal for formal settings. It also provides a more stain-resistant surface.
Honed (matte) Finish: A honed finish results in a smooth, matte surface with little to no shine. It gives the stone a more natural, understated look, offering a softer, more relaxed feel. While it’s less resistant to stains than polished stone, its muted texture hides scratches and wear better over time.
